The Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, took part in a meeting between the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, and the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, as well as the European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the difficult situation in Ukraine caused by Russia’s barbaric attacks, the need to further strengthen sanctions pressure on the aggressor, as well as the importance of maintaining and increasing defence, financial, and humanitarian support for Ukraine.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze thanked European partners for their principled stance, solidarity, and consistent support for Ukraine in wartime, as well as for their continued support of Ukraine’s European integration course.

She stressed that today Ukraine is defending not only its own statehood, but also the security of the entire European continent. In this context, ensuring the sustainability of military assistance is of critical importance.

Particular attention was paid to accelerating reforms within the framework of the EU accession negotiations. The Chair of the Committee emphasized that it is crucial for Ukraine to increase the pace of its European integration efforts, while the European Union must ensure transparency and clarity on its side. She stressed the importance of guaranteeing predictability in decisions regarding further steps in the negotiation process and avoiding any slowdown in support for Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine must not deviate from implementing reforms that are directly linked to its successful progress toward EU membership.

The meeting also addressed the preparation of legislation for the first post-war elections. “It is essential to address this issue only once a sustainable peace is secured in Ukraine, which would allow for truly democratic, transparent, and fair elections in line with European standards. Ukrainians must be able to fully exercise their right to campaign, participate, run for office, vote, and genuinely express their will for change in the country,” said the Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union.
