The Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, and the First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Vadym Halaychuk, met with Member of the Hungarian Parliament Katalin Sech and former Member of the European Parliament from Hungary, Daniel Berg.

The parties discussed international support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, as well as Ukraine’s European integration. Members of the Committee emphasized that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union is important not only for Ukraine, but also for Hungary, noting that this is a mutually beneficial process. “Your visit to Ukraine and your interest are very important to us. We are neighbours. I am confident that we can resolve many issues if we approach them objectively and constructively,” Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stressed.
She also noted Kyiv’s efforts to establish a constructive dialogue with Budapest, particularly given the goodwill and mutual respect that exist in border communities. “My family comes from Zakarpattia. My parents raised me with the understanding that knowing the language of our Hungarian neighbours is important as a sign of respect for them. That is why we have always been good neighbours. I hope that we will be able to find common ground at the state level as well,” the Chair of the Committee said.

First Deputy Chair of the Committee Vadym Halaychuk also emphasized the importance of bilateral regional projects. As an example, he referred to Romania, which, with the support of the European Union, is implementing important infrastructure projects that will be carried out both on Romanian territory and in Ukraine. In his view, Ukraine and Hungary could also develop joint cross-border initiatives. This would strengthen trust between neighbours and create new opportunities for communities on both sides of the border.
