The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, met with EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová and a delegation from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), led by Anna Jarosz-Friis, Director of the Ukraine Service at the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze thanked European partners for their continued support and assistance. The parties discussed Ukraine’s progress on its path towards the EU and the steps required to maintain financial assistance under the Ukraine Facility – an EU financial mechanism providing EUR 50 billion in support for Ukraine until 2027.
Anna Jarosz-Friis noted that a new tranche of assistance within the framework of the Ukraine Facility is subject to the fulfilment of the Ukraine Plan, according to which the Verkhovna Rada must adopt several draft laws. These include draft laws on the civil service, decentralisation, cybersecurity, and the reform of ARMA – the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze emphasised the importance of joint work and effective interaction in the process of European integration. “It is in Ukraine’s interests to focus on common tasks, because now we are in the same critical state as we were at the beginning of the full-scale invasion,” said the Committee Chair. She also stressed that preserving democratic principles and the balance of power is the foundation on which every democracy is based.
The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU also called on the interlocutors to use every opportunity to convey to their colleagues in Europe the importance of urgent support for Ukraine. This support is also crucial for the security of the entire continent. According to her, Russia has not changed its objectives in the war. A lot depends on Europe now – whether it can take further actions to stop the Russian Federation. According to the Chair of the Committee, Europe is still trying to apply peaceful instruments in a time of war. “But some of what is happening on your territories is already a war. Therefore, other instruments are needed... I hope that we will see significant steps from our partners in the coming days and weeks. If we do not hurry, we will have to face catastrophic consequences,” concluded Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
