The Chairwoman of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, visited the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe during her working visit to Brussels. She also participated in a joint meeting of the Committee on Foreign Relations and Defence in the Belgian Parliament. During these meetings, the level and programs of Ukraine’s cooperation with the Alliance and the coordination of NATO international military assistance to Ukraine were addressed. “Many questions were raised regarding our expectations for the end of the war and Ukraine’s needs on the battlefield,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. She noted that many expectations that are being voiced globally for the end of Russia's war against Ukraine – and against the entire free world – are based on assumptions that have very little connection to reality. “The Russian Federation has not changed its intentions. This year alone, it has increased its military budget by more than 30%. It is further increasing weapons production, shifting its economy toward a military-driven system. This clearly indicates that Russia is determined to take further serious military actions,” said the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU. She is convinced that Russia's strategic defeat in the war can be achieved only through joint pressure, which includes a strict sanctions policy, maximum military support for Ukraine, investment in Ukraine’s defence industry and significant expansion of military production in Europe in the shortest possible time. “Only this can ensure in the future not an illusory truce that Russia will use to its advantage, but lasting peace,” emphasised Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

According to the Chair of the Committee, Belgium could demonstrate leadership in Europe regarding the seizure of Russian assets. She urged stronger sanctions pressure and withdrawal not only of pipeline-transported but also of liquefied Russian gas, as its supplies to the EU have risen significantly over the past two years. Sanctions should also be imposed on the aggressor's chemical and metal industries, as well as its nuclear energy sector.

Additionally, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze called on European partners to make maximum efforts to convey to the new United States administration the mutual benefit of the North Atlantic Alliance. Only through joint actions and unity can global threats be confronted and peace safeguarded in Europe and the free world. Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze also emphasised that Ukraine's membership in the Alliance can serve as a guarantee for lasting peace on the continent.
