The Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU held a meeting with the Serbian delegation

Serbian MPs and politicians met with members of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU and representatives of other committees.

Committee’s first Deputy Chair Vadym Halaychuk noted that it is important for Ukraine to have friends in Serbia who help and support Ukraine.

The parties focused on cooperation to counter Russian propaganda. Serbian colleagues noted that Russian propaganda is still very strong in their country. Therefore, it is important to work together to overcome this influence and inform people about actual situation in Ukraine. Now it is possible not through TV channels that broadcast Russian narratives en masse, but only through social media.
The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze suggested that cooperation between Serbian organisations and non-governmental organisations in Ukraine, which fight pro-Kremlin propaganda, could be useful. These are, in particular, ‘Stop Fake’ and ‘Ukrainian Crisis Media Center’.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze also thanked the Serbian delegation for their visit to Ukraine. According to her, personal presence here is very important for understanding what the Russian occupiers are doing in Ukraine: ‘We are very grateful to all our friends who come to support us in these difficult times. When you come here, you can see with your own eyes what crimes the Russian army left behind in Ukraine. You can see what we go through as a nation. We are people who want to have future and the right to make our own choices.’

The Chair of the Committee said that it is important for Ukraine that the world knows the truth about this war. ‘And if we can unite to spread the truth, it will help us to be on the side of good together. Because now there is a struggle between good and evil,’ she said.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze also added that Russia must be completely defeated, punished, weakened to such a state that it cannot attack any other nation in the world. Only in this way will it be possible to achieve stable and lasting peace on the continent and in the world. ‘I am sure that Serbia, like Ukraine, aspires to a free world based on democratic principles and respect for people and the law,’ said the Chair of the Committee.
