The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, emphasised this during the Inter-Parliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy in Warsaw.

During the discussion on the future of transatlantic relations, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stated that Europe needs to reconsider its ability to defend itself. “We understand that this requires time, resources and various actions. We need to try to restore relations with the United States on the basis of a reliable partnership. This can certainly be done only on the foundation of shared values,” stated the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU. According to her, it is the value-based basis of relations with the US that, unfortunately, has recently required reaffirmation. For Ukrainians, according to Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, it is vital that the peacemaking efforts of the United States are aimed at achieving a truly just and sustainable peace in Europe. “We also see that to achieve this peace and for these efforts to be successful, the Russian bully must be cornered in this peace. And this means that the United States must understand the true goals of Russia in the war against Ukraine. This is certainly not only about Ukrainian territories. This is about the destruction of the Ukrainian nation and state, as well as the establishment of a world order that would be governed by the rule of force, not the rule of law,” the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU is confident.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze also reminded the conference participants that Putin wants to reestablish pre-1997 borders. “And this means that our common European security is under the greatest threat. We must fight for it together. And now, while we are having a discussion here, unfortunately, European security is being discussed by the Americans and Russians without Europe,” said the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU.
