Chairwoman of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, participated in the plenary session of COSAC — the Conference of the Parliamentary committees for Union affairs of EU member states and Committees on European integration of partner and EU candidate countries, held in Warsaw.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze congratulated Poland on the start of its presidency of the Council of the EU and stated that Ukraine greatly relies on Poland’s leadership, which is based on values. She highlighted that Poland’s priorities for its presidency reflect a deep understanding of the nature of current threats and the need for a joint response. “We must also acknowledge that the response to Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, which is already being waged on your territories through hybrid methods, demands unity, political will, courage and joint action. Before we can focus on other aspects of security that will provide for development, opportunities, innovations, and competitiveness, we must all first invest in peace,” stated the Chairwoman of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze reiterated that Ukrainians seek peace but insist on a just, stable and lasting peace. “This means that our common security must be reinforced through joint defence spending, joint military procurement, joint military production, as well as joint sanctions against the Russian Federation,” she stressed. “We are closely monitoring discussions among EU foreign ministers in Brussels regarding sanctions, and, unfortunately, some states are not ready for the unity. Additionally, I believe that human rights organisations, law enforcement agencies and defence institutions should be stronger and more determined to counter threats within the European Union,” Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze concluded.
