At its meeting on June 9, the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU heard the report on the implementation of the Program of activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2020 in the field of European integration.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna briefed the Committee members on the state of implementation of the Cabinet's Program in various areas. According to Olha Stefanishyna, the Government's action plan provided for the launch of pilot projects for regional offices of European integration. They were opened in several regions of Ukraine. The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that Ukraine and the EU had agreed to start updating trade parameters and revising the Association Agreement.

Olha Stefanishyna reported that as a result of joint governmental and parliamentary work at the Ukraine-EU Summit and the Association Council, a dialogue on the European Green Deal had been launched. Also, according to Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine and the EU are trying to synchronize the vision of available financial instruments for green transformation, which Ukrainian companies and the Ukrainian economy will need: “We agreed that in July this year the European Commission delegation will be in Ukraine to negotiate with international financial institutions, with government officials in order to form a Roadmap for financial support of Ukraine in this direction”.

The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that Ukraine had applied for the presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region and the Committee of this Strategy confirmed such presidency. The Cabinet of Ministers also decided to approve a plan for the construction and arrangement of checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine, with a priority arrangement of border and customs infrastructure on the border between Ukraine and the EU countries. Olha Stefanishyna also informed that in the last quarter the Government has already approved 8 legislative acts, approved at the meeting of the Commission for Coordination of the Implementation of the Association Agreement. 13 more are currently being processed by the Cabinet.

The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU noted that the Government's Program of Activities had not been approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. “In fact, we are considering the Government's self-assessment now. Unfortunately, what we see in the report, although it is quite voluminous, in terms of European integration and the implementation of its tasks and effectiveness, there are many common phrases. So I would like to receive more detailed information for our Committee based on the results of this report - what was done in each direction to achieve a particular result”, - Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze summed up.
