The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, emphasised this during a discussion about the German-Ukrainian parliamentary dialogue.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said that Ukrainians are grateful to Germany for the military, political, financial and humanitarian aid that Germany provides to Ukraine. “The Russian Federation is not ready to stop the brutal war. It continues to threaten the very existence of our state and the well-being of the entire democratic world. It undermined the very foundations of international law and the possibility to rely on political and diplomatic means to resolve disputes,” said the Chair of the Committee. She is convinced that Russia knows and uses only the language of force. Therefore, the most important priority for Ukraine is weapons and air defence. “Weapons are the cornerstone for us today. With weapons, we can protect ourselves, and our borders and regain our territories. That is why we ask you to mobilise your efforts as much as possible and to provide weapons for Ukraine faster, in larger quantities and of serious quality. We can defeat Russia only together and only by technological means,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU reminded that Russia has significantly escalated attacks along the entire front line, and the situation there is difficult. It also intensified attacks throughout the territory of Ukraine. Russia uses both Iranian drones and various types of missiles to attack civilian infrastructure. “Today we have very serious problems with electricity and its supply. The situation is more difficult than it was at the beginning of 2023 when Russia attacked mostly our distribution facilities. This spring, Russia targeted the energy generation system. We have serious problems, outages have started, and the situation will only get worse until winter if no urgent help will be provided by our partners to both state and private companies,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. She noted that restoring the power system is also a priority. The European Union should open larger capacities for the import and export of electricity between Ukraine and the EU, enabling to balance the energy system. Another priority is the access of Ukrainian public and private companies to affordable loans for recovery.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze also stressed that not only the central government of Ukraine should participate in the recovery process, but also communities and regions. Horizontal ties with partners from abroad should be established. “We hope that the conference in Berlin on reform and recovery will help to determine how this will happen. We also expect that not only the government, businesses and local governments but also a parliamentary delegation from Ukraine will be invited to this conference. I hope that the German side will require Ukraine to be represented at the conference by all the parties that are in the Verkhovna Rada so that the Parliament will participate in the international discussion and perform its controlling function,” said the Chair of the Committee.
