The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze and the First Deputy Chair of the Committee Vadym Halaychuk met with Magda Kopczyńska, Director General of the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze thanked the EU for its help in creating Solidarity lanes. They were initiated by the European Commission in May 2022 to preserve Ukraine’s trade routes and transport goods in both directions — from Ukraine and to Ukraine. The total value of trade through the Solidarity lanes is estimated at approximately 139 billion euros, including over 46 billion euros of Ukrainian exports and over 93 billion euros of imports.

The Chair of the Committee also noted that emerging challenges, such as the blocking of checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border and protests of Polish agricultural producers are quite difficult to solve at the bilateral level. The situation requires the involvement of Brussels. “The more we produce, the more we can export, the more we can support our economy,” said the Chair of the Committee. Ukraine's goal is at least to regain its pre-war level of exports.

The parties discussed legal approximation in the field of transport. Magda Kopczyńska noted that Ukraine should prioritise legislation in the area of transport to bring Ukraine closer to the standards of the European Union. Ukraine has been granted preferences in trade with the EU and transport connections with the European Union. At the same time, it strives to meet the standards of the European community in this domain. Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said that the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU is working on the fastest possible adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU law. The Committee provides opinions not only on draft laws prepared for the first reading but also on those finalised for the second reading. It also reviews draft laws, defined as priorities for the integration of Ukraine into the European Union.
