Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze reported that at the meeting detailed
expectations regarding fulfilment of the remaining five conditions,
accompanying the granting of candidate status to Ukraine were announced.
“This requires enormous serious work from the Verkhovna Rada. And it is
very good that the European side invited also the leaders of factions and
groups to the meeting with Mr. Koopman. It is important that all members
of the Parliament understand the agenda that we need to implement in order
to receive a positive assessment from the European Commission,” said
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
The Chair of the Committee also reported that the participants discussed
the Ukrainian's work on fulfilling the remaining requirements, as well as
the expectation that this work will be successfully completed by the end
of the year. “By mobilising, we will be able to get the assessment that
will allow us to open negotiations on EU membership already at the end of
this year. This will ensure more intensive involvement of our European
partners in monitoring, analysis and assistance in the implementation. We
hope to return to a wider representation of the European Commission here,
on the spot. This will allow us to quickly receive feedback so that we can
move on according to the agenda,” said the Chair of the Committee.
