Olena Vintoniak, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, took part in the LXXIII plenary meeting of COSAC — the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union.
Speaking at the session dedicated to the work programmes of the European Commission and the European Parliament in the new institutional cycle, and the EU’s strategic agenda, Olena Vintoniak emphasized that today Ukraine is fighting not only for its sovereignty, but also for the principles upon which the European Union is built — democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. According to her, Ukraine’s path toward EU membership is defined by shared values, resilience, and a common goal.
“The EU’s steadfast support — military, economic, humanitarian — has been life-saving for us. While defending our land, we are also rebuilding the country, advancing reforms, and aligning with the EU’s strategic agenda, understanding that Ukraine’s future is inextricably linked with Europe,” said Olena Vintoniak.
She noted that the work programmes of the European Commission and the European Parliament resonate with Ukraine’s priorities. “Security issues remain paramount. We welcome the EU’s commitment to strengthening strategic, economic, and defence resilience. Ukraine’s experience underscores the urgency of a united front against Russian aggression,” Olena Vintoniak said.
She welcomed initiatives to enhance interoperability and cybersecurity, as well as investments in the EU’s common security. Olena Vintoniak also emphasized that the rule of law remains a cornerstone of Ukraine’s EU integration. “Despite the war, judicial reform and anti-corruption efforts continue. At the same time, Ukraine’s accession is a transformational opportunity for the EU itself — expanding economic and cultural horizons, enhancing security, and affirming the EU’s global leadership. The EU’s strength lies in unity. Ukraine is ready to contribute to this unity as a reliable partner,” she concluded.
