Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, met with an Italian delegation led by Senator Ivan Scalfarotto. The delegation also included Elena Buscemi, President of the Milan City Council; Gianmaria Radice, Member of the Milan City Council; and Giuseppe Vespo, Press Officer of the Municipality of Milan.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze thanked the Italian colleagues for visiting Ukraine, noting that such visits were of great importance during wartime. "Nothing can replace the physical presence in a country at war. It gives a clear sense of how society lives and what it is going through," she said.
She emphasized that such visits help foreign partners better understand the realities of the war and communicate them effectively to their voters, using the right arguments to advocate for continued support for Ukraine.

The Chair of the Committee underscored that Russia had not abandoned its initial goal — to erase Ukraine from the map. "But this is not only about Ukraine. When we hear calls to give up our territories, we understand this will not stop Russia — it will only fuel its appetite," she said.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze reminded that Vladimir Putin had outlined his ambitions as early as 2008 and reiterated them in 2021, openly declaring a confrontation with the entire Western world. She noted that Russia struggles to coexist peacefully with neighbours who live better, and from the Kremlin’s perspective, such nations must be destroyed. "Today Putin wants part of Ukraine. Tomorrow, he may want more. The day after — part of Finland or Estonia. One way or another, this war is moving in your direction," she added.

She also stressed that Russia was trying to divide the West in its support for Ukraine. "That is why we are very grateful for your unity and solidarity with Ukraine, and for your continued support," Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said. At the same time, she expressed confidence that this support could and should be increased, as Ukraine needs it now more than ever.

Senator Ivan Scalfarotto described Russia’s war against Ukraine as unjust and unprovoked. He stated that Ukraine was currently defending not only its own freedom, but also the values of the entire continent.
