Members of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU met with representatives of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a group of experts in geopolitics, security and international relations from the Stockholm Center for East European Studies, a leading think tank at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, thanked Sweden and the Swedish people for their support of Ukraine. “We are glad that we have the opportunity even during the war to do everything to move towards our strategic goals, in particular, European integration. However, our main goal is to win the war so that we can focus on the development of the state and not just on survival,” she said.

The Chair of the Committee noted that now there are calls to Ukraine for peace. “We want peace more than any country in the world. But we cannot agree to Russia's terms, because it would mean the end of existence for Ukraine, the loss of the future, the loss of the country, and physical destruction,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. She hopes that the aid package approved by the USA will be followed by further ones, and that partners will become more active in supporting Ukraine.

Swedish experts noted that, supporting Ukraine is a priority for the Swedish Government. It was stated that Sweden will continue to help Ukraine. The country has joined Germany's initiative to help Ukraine with air defence, as well as the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase artillery shells. Sweden understands that the first priority for Ukraine is to win the war, but European integration must also continue. In this context, the country supports adopting EU's negotiating framework with Ukraine without delay.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze emphasised that for Ukraine to successfully move towards the EU, it is important to ensure effective interaction between branches of power, as well as to build institutional capacity. The capability of Ukraine to achieve its goals depends on experts working at all levels.

The first deputy Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, Vadym Halaychuk, emphasised the importance of regional cooperation. He noted that the role of regions in the recovery of Ukraine will be key, therefore cooperation at the level of regions and communities should be developed.
