In November, Ukraine marked the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor tragedy,
the Stalinism genocide against the Ukrainian people. In a special video
dedicated to the anniversary of the tragedy, the Chair of the Committee on
Ukraine's Integration into the EU emphasised the importance of spreading
the truth about this and other crimes of the Russians.
In her opinion, if Europeans and Americans realised that Bolshevism and
Nazism were the same, they would not doubt the need of the unconditional
defeat of Russia in the war against Ukraine. At the same time, according
to the Chair of the Committee, work with foreign MPs brings its results.
“More and more states recognise Holodomor as genocide against the
Ukrainian people. The European Parliament did it last year. It is
important that the MEPs called on EU countries to promote awareness of
this and other Soviet crimes through changes in educational and research
programs,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
Ukraine should support historical studies and raise awareness of
Holodomor. The Chair of the Committee also emphasised that it is necessary
to work with Western partners to attract reputable Western researchers and
scientists to educational activities. “Ukraine should provide them with
all the necessary support so that the truth about the past and its
connection with the present sounds convincingly and loudly. And, of
course, we should never forget it,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
