Female Ukrainian MPs addressed the US Congress asking to continue helping Ukraine

Female members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, representing various political forces addressed a joint letter to the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, congressmen and congresswomen. In the letter, the parliamentarians urged their American colleagues to continue helping Ukraine to fight against the aggressor state Russia. They stressed the importance of US assistance in the times when the Russian Federation seeks not only to erase Ukraine from the world map and destroy the Ukrainian people but also challenges the fundamental values of the civilised world.

“We ask you to keep up the leadership and uphold your responsibility both as leaders of America and as leaders of the free world. In the 20th century, two world wars began as European but grew global. Russia was reckless enough to open this Pandora's box again. Hesitation will not close it”, the authors of the letter say. Ukrainian MPs are convinced that delaying aid will send a signal to other autocracies that they may follow Russia's example: “It will only increase the price that free nations will pay to stop the states forming axis of evil. And we can only pray for this price to be limited to money and weapons only”.

The appeal was initiated by the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze and the co-chair of the European Solidarity faction Iryna Herashchenko. The letter was signed by 61 female members of the Verkhovna Rada. The signatories are representatives of different political forces and have different political views but are united in their common resolute resistance to the enemy. “We are glad that all female MPs signed this joint appeal. We hope that this will become another argument in favour of adopting the decision of the House of Representatives of the Congress on aid to Ukraine as soon as possible”, said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
