Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze to advisers of the US Congress: “We protect the interests of the US citizens as well”

The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze met with a delegation of senior advisers of the US Congress and American experts.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze thanked the United States for its support of Ukraine and stressed the extreme importance of further assistance not only for Ukraine but also for the entire world order. “We are alive. We are standing. This is thanks to the courage and resilience of our Armed Forces and the extraordinary support of our allies. We hope that all the discussions that are taking place in Congress around this support will have a logical outcome. Ukraine is now protecting not only its national interests. We protect the interests of American citizens as well. If we allow this evil to win, it will be a clear signal to other dictators who want to forcefully change the borders of other states,” said the Chair of the Committee. She noted that Russia is using North Korean missiles and Iranian drones in the war against Ukraine and is likely to use Iranian missiles. According to Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, the Russian Federation is not going to back down: “Putin made his goals very clear in December 2021. He was talking not only about Ukraine but about the return to the borders of 1997. This means that part of Europe, part of NATO is also under threat. Therefore, the world needs to support Ukraine now.”

The Chair of the Committee noted that no country in the world, except the United States, is capable of fully providing for its own military needs. Despite Ukraine's efforts to increase the production of weapons, they are not enough. Especially considering how Russia uses foreign weapons against Ukraine and how it has increased its defence budget to the level of the USSR times. That is why it is crucial to maintain and increase military aid to Ukraine. According to Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Russia is demonstrating that it intends to increase its conquering capabilities. The idea of destroying Ukraine flourishes there. For Ukraine, this is an existential war for survival, a war for the right to its future. “That is why so much depends on the USA. Your help is needed for the joint contribution to the strategic goal of defeating the Russian Federation. Russia is not only fighting against Ukraine on Ukrainian soil. It does not hide that it is fighting against the entire free world,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

She emphasised that more efforts are required for the air defence of Ukraine, as Russia does not stop nuclear blackmail and Ukrainian nuclear facilities are under threat. Ukraine's success, according to Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, directly depends on the quantity, quality and speed of obtaining weapons. Now the question is whether the United States is ready to defend what it declares — freedom, respect for human rights and democratic values. “While you are debating, we are dying, fighting against the common strategic enemy. We need quick, urgent solutions that will help us save lives,” said the Chair of the Committee. In her opinion, this war may turn into the Third World War. “It is already taking place by hybrid means, including on the territory of the United States when Russia interferences in the elections, spreads disinformation and launches cyber-attacks. While you are discussing migration policy, this meteorite is already flying towards you and you are behaving like in the movie “Don't Look Up”, preferring to ignore what is already happening,” Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze emphasised.
