Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, as a member of the Ukraine-NATO
Interparliamentary Council, took part in the Parliamentary Assembly
session of the alliance in Luxembourg. With the other members of the
parliamentary delegation of Ukraine, she worked in the committees,
providing comments and suggestions to reports.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze participated in the meeting of the Committee on
Security and Defence and on Economy and Security of the NATO PA. She took
part in discussions related to the energy security of Ukraine, as well as
the further development of sanctions pressure on Russia. Also, the Chair
of the Committee met with the delegation of the American Congress, the
Minister of Defence, the Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, the Minister
of Justice and Culture of Luxembourg, as well as the President of the NATO
PA.
“We take this opportunity to thank all our partners for their help. We
also try to influence the readiness for consensus in order to take our
relations with the alliance to the next level and make a respective
decision at the Vilnius NATO summit,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
According to her, it is impossible to imagine long-lasting peace in Europe
without Ukraine's membership in the Alliance. “I often repeat that we have
high hopes for our Armed Forces, which have demonstrated incredible
heroism and effectiveness. However, we also warn our partners against
excessive expectations related to announced counteroffensive and insist on
the need to continue effective and joint provision of weapons in order to
achieve Ukraine's victory in this war,” the Chair of the Committee
emphasised.
The Ukrainian deputies thanked the American delegation for the role of the
congressmen in a decision on the readiness to create an aviation coalition
and for the start of training Ukrainian pilots on fifth-generation F-16
fighters. This is another step towards the real protection of the
Ukrainian people and strengthening the effectiveness of the Armed Forces
for the liberation of further territories. Ukrainian deputies noted that
the latest weapons already provided by the partners, in particular the
Patriot systems, are used extremely efficiently. The Ukrainian military
mastered these weapons skilfully and quickly.
“Everywhere we insist that without punishing Russia it is difficult to
imagine a peaceful future after the end of this war. We also explain why
the Special Tribunal is needed to punish Russia for the crime of
aggression,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. But the focus of the
Ukrainian delegation at the spring session of the NATO PA was preparation
for a more ambitious political decision regarding relations between
Ukraine and the Alliance at the Vilnius Summit. “This is not an easy path,
and at the moment it is still impossible to talk about a general consensus
regarding the invitation of Ukraine to NATO in Vilnius,” noted Ivanna
Klympush-Tsintsadze. Therefore, it is essential to continue this work at
all possible levels.
