The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s integration into the EU Ivanna
Klympush-Tsintsadze and the First Deputy Chair of the Committee Vadym
Halaychuk met with representatives of major political forces in the
Italian Parliament, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, representatives of
religious and scientific communities and experts. Ukrainian MPs visited
Italy within the ‘United4Ukraine’ inter-parliamentary network.
The Chair of the Committee noted that Ukraine is counting that Italy's
support will not only be maintained, but also strengthened, especially
regarding the provision of security assistance. ‘We greatly appreciate
that Italy continues to provide weapons and clearly understands that
Ukraine needs them for effective self-defence. It is important that the
Italian Government and its current coalition take on the leadership role
in this process and communicate with the society. We will continue this
work’, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said.
She also expressed hope that Italy will continue to support Ukraine on the
path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. ‘We hope for an active
position in the further support of the European integration of Ukraine.
Italy will continue to play an important role in our future. We also see
great interest on the part of Italian businesses to plan their work in
Ukraine both in the short-term urgent recovery and in the long-term
reconstruction’, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze noted. A clear awareness that
Ukraine will become a member of NATO and the European Union, according to
the Chair of the Committee, would give Western investors additional
confidence to make new contacts and new experiences with Ukrainians and in
Ukraine.
