Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze met with the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany

The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze met with Thomas Bagger, State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

She stated that it’s very important that partners come to Ukraine and have the opportunity to see with their own eyes what is happening here. “I am also grateful that you communicate with representatives of different political forces in the Parliament because it is crucial to hear different voices. Of course, for all of us, regardless of which Verkhovna Rada Committee we represent, it is important to do everything to ensure that Ukraine survives, wins and has a future,” said the Chair of the Committee.

She thanked Germany for all the help that was provided to Ukraine: “Thank you for the provided military capabilities that today protect the lives of both civilians and our fighters on the front lines.”

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stated that, unfortunately, neither Ukraine nor its partners have the right to relax, because the war continues and Ukraine needs constant support. “We have to ensure that the expectations regarding Ukraine's military actions are realistic. And we must understand that the counteroffensive is the result of our joint efforts. Because the courage of the Armed Forces alone is not enough. We need tools. Therefore, one should not focus on the counteroffensive as the only goal. Our goal is much broader. Our goal is our future in our country,” said the Chair of the Committee.

She noted that Ukraine is now well aware of the unique window of opportunity until the end of the year to start negotiations on joining the EU, because next year will be influenced by the elections in the European Union. “Therefore, we will do our best to fulfil the seven requirements regarding the application and hope to receive a positive opinion from the European Commission regarding this fulfilment,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

Thomas Bagger noted that Germany has undergone a major transformation in its perception of Russia's war in Ukraine. Now, according to him, there is an understanding that this is a long-term war that affects Germany as well. He noted that Germany has grown the awareness that there should be no grey areas on the continent and that Ukraine should be together with the EU.
