The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Ivanna
Klympush-Tsintsadze, took part in the meeting of the working group on
coordination of integrated border management.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze thanked the State Border Service for the
leadership in this process and expressed hope that other state
authorities, including those recently established, will join the working
group.
The Chair of the Committee noted that there were certain financial
restrictions during the war and funds must be prioritised. At the same
time, it’s important to expand the possibilities of Ukraine's western
border and to develop it with a strategic vision that over time it will
become an internal border of the European Union. "We discussed at our
on-site meeting that the border with EU member states should become a
transparent border in the future. We strive for EU membership. That's why
we were addressing mobile scanning systems instead of stationary ones. In
this way, we can use resources wisely in other parts of our border," said
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
The Chair of the Committee expressed hope that the working group on the
coordination of integrated border management will be an effective
instrument. She noted that the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the
EU held its field meetings within the framework of monitoring the
implementation of the strategy of integrated border management. The
Committee will continue to cooperate with other authorities on this
matter. Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze also expressed hope that the
recommendations of the Committee will be taken into account by executive
authorities to the best possible extent.
