Today's story in the section #AASuccessStories is about a small “Nyva”
farm from Ternopil region. It has joined the Program to support the
financing of small and medium-sized enterprise investment projects. The
Program is funded by the German government through KfW and the European
Union under the #EU4Business initiative. Thanks to participation in
this program, “Nyva” for the second time used a chance to improve its
business and receive the necessary support for development.
##AASuccessStories is a column on how Ukrainians in practice implement
the Association Agreement with the EU and enjoy opportunities for
cooperation with the European Union.
“Nyva” farm is located in the village of Chernykhivtsi, Ternopil
region. The company is engaged in growing a variety of crops - oilseeds
and grains. The land bank of the farm is over 1,300 hectares. The
company employs 14 people. Deputy Head of the “Nyva” farm Taras Serbay
says that they learned about the Program to support small and
medium-sized enterprises more than three years ago. The farm managed to
take advantage of the opportunities it offers twice. This time, thanks
to the program, they bought a brand new German-made combine for
harvesting. According to Taras Serbay, the productivity of the
purchased equipment is much higher than analogues, which will allow to
reap a harvest faster: “It will be easier for the operator to manage
it, because it is more automated. There will be a better threshing of
the crops we grow. As the harvest season begins, we have high hopes for
this combine harvester. It will show itself at work”.
The total cost of the combine harvester is over UAH 8 million. 20% of
the amount company paid from its own funds, for 80% received a loan
from the Entrepreneurship Development Fund. The loan was issued to
ProCredit Bank at 14%, but thanks to the State Program “Affordable
Loans 5-7-9” the interest rate was reduced to 7%. “Literally in two
weeks we collected the documents necessary for registration and very
quickly we managed to get this combine harvester,” the deputy chairman
of “Nyva” says.
The Entrepreneurship Development Fund program is designed for 4 years.
It offers loans with a very low interest rates. “The program has helped
us feel more confident, we can afford more, to expand our business in
the future. Today we ve got a combine harvester, tomorrow may be we
will buy a new tractor, we will continue working,” Taras Serbay says.
