Failure to ensure Ukraine's victory in the war will lead to a domino effect at the global level, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze

The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU emphasised this during the discussion “War in Ukraine and its global impact” of the 27th Conference of Forum 2000, which took place in Prague.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze noted that the war in Ukraine has been going on not for over 600 days, but for almost ten years: “Even though by 24th of December 2022 the war had already been going on for 8 years, the world did not do enough to prevent the development of the Russian hybrid aggression into the full-scale war.”

The Chair of the Committee is sure that the failure to ensure Ukraine's victory in the war will lead to a domino effect at the global level and increase the appetites of those states that relay on the right of force. According to her, this means that the world will not be able to solve security challenges — problems of food, energy and social security. “We must explain to our partners, colleagues and sceptics at the global level why it is important to support Ukraine. At the same time, we should focus on reaching those countries that can mobilise resources to help Ukraine today. We have not yet reached the stage when the countries of the free world are on the same page with Ukraine and realise that Ukraine must win and Russia must be defeated in this war,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

She noted that the world is getting used to Russia's war in Ukraine, so she called to think about how to keep Ukraine in the spotlight amid other challenges. “We have to find the right approaches to avoid getting used to the war and to convince societies, governments and politicians that it is necessary to support Ukraine since the consequences of its defeat may be devastating for the whole world and the world order”, said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
